Legal Cession by David Radavich

DavidR_LC

Notwithstanding

the eight-inch snowfall,

my back is sore and humorless.

Heretofore

I found it manly

to tough out the shovel,

lift nature to

one side and range

white artfully along trim rows.

Thereunto

did I suffer from

vigorous man’s delusion,

which appertaining

I now cede

mens in corpore

to the alienee

of youthful exuberance.

Hereinafter

shall the neighbor boy

who came knocking earlier

assume all future

rights and responsibilities

to the aforesaid

snow, ice,

and vertebrae.
